We at Champions for Charity are very excited that on Sunday, September 29, 2013 we are bringing to Ann Arbor and the University of Michigan Campus a beautiful new 10K and 5K road race. Leaders and Best will start and finish in the heart of the U of M campus by Angell Hall and Hill Auditorium. The course will showcase other beautiful parts of the main campus, downtown Ann Arbor, and the athletic campus including, of course, “The Big House.”
A portion of every race entry will be donated to ALS Research at the UM Program for Neurology Research & Discovery!
“Community support is vital to the work of our world-class physicians and scientists,” said Dr. Ora Pescovitz, executive vice president for medical affairs at the University of Michigan and CEO of the U-M Health System. “We are deeply grateful to everyone who partners with us to create the future of health care through discovery, and for the continuing support of Champions for Charity.”
“As a physician, I have for decades treated patients suffering from life-altering and life-threatening diseases for which we have no cures, like ALS and Alzheimer’s disease, said Dr. Eva Feldman, the Russell N. DeJong professor of Neurology at the University of Michigan. “That’s why I established my laboratory, the Program for Neurology Research & Discovery – to employ and train the most talented scientists I can find, so that we may offer hope where currently there is none.
“I am so grateful to Champions for Charity and all of the participants in Leaders & Best for their support of this crucial medical research. And I want everyone to know that all of your contributions are directly applied to work in the laboratory. Together, we truly can make a difference.”
